Call for Standardised Probiotics Trials

Home News Call for Standardised Probiotics Trials

In a Viewpoint article this month in the New Zealand Medical Journal, Gut Health Network members Gemma Laws and Roslyn Kemp describe the need for better reporting of clinical trials testing the health benefits of probiotics. Gemma recently completed an MSc at the University of Otago, researching the immune response to probiotics. During her research she was struck by how varied clinical trials of probiotics were and how difficult it is to interpret the results. Gemma makes a strong case for standardising both trial design and reporting in New Zealand and worldwide.
